Expired Programs
What's Changing?
On September 4, 2021, federal pandemic unemployment programs ended. These programs include:
- Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA): Provided unemployment benefits to individuals not traditionally eligible to receive unemployment benefits, such as self-employed workers. PUA expired on September 4, 2021.
- Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC): Provided an additional weekly $300 supplemental payment to claimants who received at least $1 of regular or federal unemployment benefits. FPUC expired on September 4, 2021.
- Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC): Provided additional weeks of unemployment benefits to claimants who exhausted all eligible weeks of benefits in the state’s regular unemployment system. PEUC expired on September 4, 2021.
- Mixed Earners Unemployment Compensation (MEUC): Provided an additional weekly $100 supplemental payment to eligible claimants who earned at least $5,000 in self-employment income in addition to wages earned with a chargeable employer. MEUC expired on September 4, 2021.
If you received benefits under one of these programs, the last payable benefit week is the week ending September 4, 2021.
Extended Benefits (EB) also expired on September 11, 2021.
The expiration of these programs has no impact on the state’s regular unemployment program. Claimants still receiving their first 26 weeks of regular unemployment benefits should continue to certify as normal.
